Whats the Best Way To 'Work' Your Warm Market?

QUESTION: What is the best way to work your warm market?

Postby oceanbreeze on 12 Oct 2008 16:03
I would like to know how effective people have been at working their warm market? What are of the techniques used in regards to inviting, presenting, closing and follow up? I am asking these questions, because personally, I have not had a lot of success with the warm market. It is quite possible that my own techniques need some polishing. I am not sure if getting a sales coach will do any good. I try to approach the warm market in a genuine and caring way. How do I come across without sounding like a sales person? I read and listen to a lot of material. It gets confusing because some of it will say, go and out recruit anyone and everyone. Then there is material that says to qualify and be picky about who you bring into your business. Any information will be greatly appreciated. This is my first question on here, so please forgive me if it comes across as haphazard.

Thanks,

Chris

ANSWER:
Stop thinking in terms of "warm market" and "cold market". The only market that matters is your TARGET MARKET. Period.

Who is your target market?

People who are already spending money in the niche your are selling. People who have a genuine desire for and are actively seking your product. Therefore if you sell arthritis therapy products and someone in your family uses it then you won't be a sales man to that person, just someone offing a sample of a product that you may be interested in.

Discover a need and fill it based on their desired out come and not NOT yours.

It doesn't have to be scripted either (scripts are for con artists and manipulative a-holes). Just ask them whether they are satisfied with what they are already using and why so you can begin an open conversation.

Your question sounds as if you are trying to convince them to "see" something instead of finding out what they may be looking for if, in fact, they are even looking for anything at all...

When you get into wanting to "share" your business and products just for the sake of "informing" your family and friends of what you are doing in business... then it can get sticky. Anything more than, "Hey guys just wanted to let you know I started a business that helps ease your rheumatoid pains" (for example) is asking for eye rolls, rejection and put downs. Why? Re-read the first sentence above.

If your family members and friends happen to fall into your target market then you've hit "pay dirt" but chances are they won't.

Concentrate on "attracting" your ideal customers and reps by providing information they are already searching for regarding your products or a business opportunity in your chosen niche/industry, and not "working" any of your warm market.

It's not about being ashamed it's about not being a "saley" sleaze bag just looking to hook a commission check form those close to him by disregarding their wants.

It's not about creating desire in or proving anything to anyone by showing them how successful you have become. It's about being of services to those already looking. How many in your family are looking? If they are anything like everyone else's family not many if any.

The perfect example is this forum post. You expressed a need by asking your question and the community responded... we didn't go to your profile and assume you were here for one reason or the next and try to sell you on our solutions. If you never asked we would post.

Discover a genuine need through listening and fill it. Nothing more. Nothing less. If they haven't expressed a need then there isn't an opportunity there for you to offer your solutions (ie. business op/products/services).

This thread is so funny, The old compensation plan "hook" ... If one product's compensation plan, residual or not, pays real actually money then what does it matter?

This type of discussion would never happen in a real Internet marketing forum because leveraged sales is the only real "beach money".

That argument of who has the better comp plan is a tactic to take your prospects mind off the real issue: "Can you teach me how to sell "it" to who wants it?"

Weather I need to sell 5 or 5000 sales to make (what every my personal $ goal) as long as I'm leveraging my efforts through people and/or technology (hello, you are reading this online right) who cares?

Unless you are you married to the company or something.

I recently read a story about a man complaining to his mentor that he had a site that was only making $200 and he wanted to make $2000 a month. His mentor told him to go build 10 more sites!

The point is, set your money goal find something that works and duplicate or scale it upwards to your desired result. When I become a rep for a program, MLM or affiliate, I NEVER calculate my money on anyone's efforts but my own. Funny thing is people want to join me when I tell them they only need to concentrate on their own efforts to sell product, and recruiting is a bonus.

Now if I had to run all over town for each sales I may want to make more money per run, but guys that doesn't have to be the case... I'm negotiating buying someones site right now that's already bringing in a steady monthly real residual income and I don't have to do a thing to it (but I will, 'cause I can).

I'm recruiting without recruiting and selling without selling 8-). If you are still doing the Comp Comparison Scam tactic and it works continue duplicate that.

The rest of us just want to get paid...to prospect online (pun intended) ;)

Has anyone ever considered making you own comp plan? It's not that hard, I do it everyday and I'll share an example: affiliate A 2%-10% residual a sales dependent on volume, Affiliate product B $11.98 monthly, affiliate product C $33.50 per sale, affiliate product D $2000 - $5000 per sale... building a list an selling them all at a push of a button (yeah you got it) PRICELESS!

After 10 years in network marketing compensations plans have NEVER been an objection to join or not join any program I've had. Not once has a prospect said, "Man I have a huge prospect list that would buy all these wigets... but, that compensation... I dun'know". Is it different for you? I doubt it.

IT'S ALL PROPAGANDA!

Compensation plans should only matter to the geniuses who make em, or to other shaky business opp hopping networker who need to justify their biz opp hopping.

Are you Establishing Credibility Using This Sure Fire Technique?

A Newbie on www.betternetworker.com asks a critical Internet prospecting question:

Establishing Credibility

Postby lsorensen on 06 Oct 2008 11:01
Well I have officially been in the MLM business now two months and 6 days. But it was only in the last 10 days that the light bulb came on and I realized that traditional cold market methods are not my cup of tea. So quite by accident really I stumbled across a marketing tool on-line that I could totally relate to. However I have been exposed to so much information in such a short period of time that it is quite overwhelming. I am currently in the process of building a website to promote the business of MLM and ultimately the company that I represent.

I know I am jumping ahead here but I want to be prepared WHEN I get that first opportunity lead! My question is, how do you establish yourself as an expert if in fact you aren't yet? What do I say to that very first person besides "Hi! Congratulations, you're my very first prospect and I'm going to teach you how to be successful in this business!" Huh? I haven't proven I can be successful, how do I convince someone else that I have the knowledge and the resources to make THEM successful? I believe that I do have those tools, I'm just not sure how to convince someone else that I can help them!

Thanks in advance for any advice I can get in this area!

Laura Sorensen

A: Hey Laura,

Welcome to the better networker community, and thank you for asking such a powerful question! I hope you find you are definitely starting off in the right place.

When establishing creditability for yourself in something new, for you it's your new network marketing venture, lean on your own past successes.

For example, if you were a principal, you'd lean on your leadership skills which prepared you to lead in this new business or if you were a flight attendant and promoting a travel business you lean on that as establishing you were already familiar with the industry of travel...even if you are an at home mom, you have developed some level of human development skills.

I have a student of mine you is a water skiing coach and he leans on this ability to recognized natural talent and heart! It's very attractive to potential prospects to relate to you both by making your past relevant to what your doing now and bonding with them at the same time.

So, just pull from your past experiences... Better still if you've failed miserably at various attempted businesses or gotten scammed. It's powerful and it works just look at Mike Dillard's story!

Just you being able to recognized so quickly that cold calling and prospecting is a waste of time, puts you light years head of many networkers. Hell, it took me 9+ years to figure that out...

Just do yourself a favor and use some of quotes from your own question and use them as subheadings or bull it point on your landing/capture page for your website... They are a testament to your natural copywriting skills.

I think you audience could appreciate knowing that you are being honest and not just telling them you'll guarantee they'll make $10,000 a month in their first 30 days or some other hype crazed story.

Be sure to post your website for review and feedback in the forums before you officially launch!
